Technique - UTEE

Hi, for today's technique you will need:

1) chipboard

2) Clear UTEE

3) Embossing ink pad/Versamark or Gluepad

4) Heat Gun

5) Your kids' toy (a train or car)

For most LOs including my husband, I try not to go for the girly look. And I try (my best) to add some texture or boyish features.

Here for my chipboard. I paint over them.

Once completely dried, I press them onto the embossing pad.

And I pour CLEAR UTEE over it.

Heat it with a heat gun.

While it is still hot and the UTEE still soft, run a toy train/car over it. we want the 'tracks' marks on the chipboard.

And it will look like this. My train 'track' is not so rough... so I get smooth lines. Which is fine!

And I used it on this LO: my girl went for a bike ride with daddy.

Hope you like it.

Stave Faves - Cutting Paper

As I was typing the Stash Faves for last week (link to B sides), I remembered another bit about paper.

I mentioned in the last Stash Faves about bold prints and asking yourself what you would do with something like that. How about making your own embellishments? I love using the premade embellishments that come with the lines but every once in a while, you run out of what you need. Back with chipboard or pop dots to give them dimension. Add Stickles for a glittery look. Those diamonds in the Cosmo Cricket papers would be perfect for backing a title. Check out some of these bold prints.....

Have you started your Christmas cards yet? I did! I used the cute trees and snowmen from the My Minds Eye papers. Mix with cardstock and ribbon and you have a cute, easy card!

Flowery paper is perfect for cutting. Make your own paper flowers without a diecut machine. Not every one of us owns one. Layer the cut flowers or add Stickles, rhinestones - anything - to the centers!

Didn't get your hands on those really cute butterfly paper clips from the MM Flower Patch line? Make your own! Cut one of these glittered butterflies from the paper and glue to a standard paper clip.

How about making your own borders? Don't have one of those handy dandy border punches? You can make your own. These papers make great borders. That Making Memories paper has several scalloped edges that you can trim and use.

So, the next time you see bold or bright patterns in the store, don't be so quick to pass them by! Its an embellishment waiting to happen!!

July Guest Designer - Anna Tremblay

I am a SAHM of 2 beautiful boys and 2 border collies. I currently live in Bakersfield, California, originally I am from Northern California.  I spent most of my 20’s moving around... I have lived in Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, California and Texas. I am a scrapper who loves Mixed-Media.  I have been at this for 2 yrs now. Before that I was a quilter.  My grandmother taught me how to crochet at age 7, that’s when my craftiness was realized.  I am 38.

1. Contests/Publications - I have never tried.....

2. One product you can't live without?  I am not sure I can pick one..... so I’ll have to go with “Fabritac”.  It’s an adhesive.  I really love how this adhesive will work on any media - paper, fabric, metal, plastic, acrylic, and what I love most about it is that it makes my project very stiff.

3. When are you most creative and why? I am learning that I have to be creative all day - everyday. Otherwise, I fall into a rut, it’s almost like falling off the wagon.  If I am not creating something, then I will be gathering data for a future project. i.e. I have camera in tow.... click, click, click

4. Any other hobbies? I like to call it motherhood :)

5.  Describe your style. Extremely Eclectic, almost gypsy like.  I am all over the spectrum, I can be cute-sy, traditional, bohemian, vintage, unconventional etc... but most of all I like to try and be edgy.  I’ll try anything, at least once.  :)

6. Messy or organized? Way too Messy!

7.  Favorite color combo?  I live in the moment. I try to listen to what color speaks to me at that very moment.

8.  Favorite manufacturer? It’s a tie... 7 gypsies and Tim Holtz

9. Favorite non scrapbook related store to shop at. A very original answer I am sure...... Target....

10. 3 Random things about you. (one)I am a completely random person. (two) I don’t like pink, but have been known to use it in a layout. (three) I grew up in the Garlic Capital of the World! (Gilroy, CA)

11. Links to blogs or other online galleries.

Technique

Last week June gave us a tutorial on using Maya Mist.

I tried it too. I have 1 variation to share.

I used a Sizzie die cut as a mask.

Then I filled in the parts (without the mist) with Glossy Accent. This gives it such a nice dimension. Or you can fill in with Stickles, like I did with the flowers.
