Finishing up....

Today we packed the very last order and shipped it out.

That means everything is out there for delivery and you should see your product soon.

Again, thank you for shopping with us over the past 5 years and sticking with us while we deal with the final ordeal in getting our October Afternoon and Hero Arts stamps in. Its been interesting the last 2 months and I'll spare you the stories. I laugh about them now, but they weren't so funny at the time.

I know its been a long wait for some of these products but they are worth it since they're so cute. I hope you enjoy crafting with them.

CHA Part 5

Simple Stories - I love their new mini album line. They come with several sheets of plain office papers and then different page protector styles. Additional papers in varying styles are also available. I love this concept for a December Daily or Gratitude journal this year.

Smash - The new book styles are geared towards wedding and baby but they've also come out with larger styles with pockets. I love these as portfolios. My mom and I plan a lot of parties and sometimes its hard to find a place to keep ideas and projects. I do a lot of pinning on Pinterest but sometimes its fun to take the ideas you find and the actual outcome and make a little splash page for a client. The new larger books (with pockets) are going to be a great resource for us.

And don't forget the fun new embellishments.

I have one of these and I'm going to dig it out! I used it on a layout about 3 years ago and its been stashed away ever since. I think this is going to be my new toy!

A new pad - Top 10.

Pink Paislee - Oh man, what can I say? They always have fun releases. This was no exception. Only one line blew me away but there are bits and pieces from the other lines that will find their way into my stash.

Maya Road - this company rules when it comes to funky finds, chipboard and other things. I love their trims too.

Teresa Collins - I love Teresa but her designs always seem the same. Same colors, patterns. And pink. I'm not a big fan of pink so its hard for me to order her lines. And then she surprises me with this:

And finally We R Memory Keepers. I don't own a lot of their lines but every once in a while I see an embellishment or something that catches my eye. Even a line will catch my eye. I love their tools and own several of the Sew Easy.

Jenni Bowlin - I have always ordered Jenni's lines for the shop but hardly ever use them. I love her embellishments but the paper scares me. This is the first line I really love. And the embellishments? Must haves.

Those tab stickers fit on the chipboard shapes above AND are the same size as the punch she just released with Fiskars!

Diecut papers.

This sheet is perforated so you can punch out random squares or use it as an entire sheet.

Lawn Fawn - I'll admit, I've ordered a few of their stamp sets in the past and I do like their quality. Its nice to see some papers and embellishments from them now.

I'm still editing photos so I'll get another post up when I get another round edited. I'm still filling orders and getting the last of the shop cleaned up.

CHA Part 3

Let me preface this post by saying that I'm very glad I'm not buying for the store this year. Why? Because there were very few lines that actually blew me away. Lines that screamed to be bought. Lines that I would feel comfortable saying 'give me everything' and stocking in the store. Were their lines I loved? Of course. And there were lines that I won't be able to get enough of. But not enough for me to stock a store.

I see more oversaturation in the industry again. Washi tape? You can find that in a LOT of lines this time around. Some patterns have been done and others were new. Bakers Twine. Don't get me wrong, I love my stash of twines but now companies are making it to 'match' their lines. I loved the companies that stepped away from their normal designs and went with something bold. Like Basic Grey.

I never have been a huge fan of BG and they've been around a long time. Usually there is one line every year that I find myself wanting a piece of but for the most part, I just don't work with their papers. And then something like Lime Rickey crosses my path. Or Wander. And now they have 2 lines that I absolutely love. PB&J and What's Up.

I'm in love with these canvas pieces.

And these really cool LARGE chipboard monograms.

Heidi Swapp - I've seen a lot of talk on the message boards about how retro and throwback her line is. Let me tell you - it is! But its a cool throwback. She has so many fun elements to her lines that make it cool. Her file folders, stickers and of course, the resist papers.

These packages come with the cute sticker sayings and the poloroid frames.

These trims are made out of a plastic paper. So it holds up on pages and can be altered. In one booth sample, they showed how they used a heat gun to curl the fringe.

I know these are so 80's but I love stars.

This is one of the resist folders with the spray mists from Tattered Angels.

Inside the file folder there is a set of the half folders, mini notebook and several items from her lines. You can also see how her label stickers are designed to fit the tabs on her folders.

And you can see how the fringe looks when a heat gun is used on it.

Remember the shaped notes we used to send in grade school? They're back!

And Echo Park. They can do no wrong in my eyes. They were one of the only companies that truly blew my mind. Colors. Patterns. Everything.

And Epiphany Crafts. I just love the tools I have. I use my button and star tool often. They have a new banner tool that looks cool and since I'm finding myself using the tools more, I might stock up on additional shapes.

Oh and its pretty cool seeing a familiar face in the booth. Hi Mandy!

Last Day to Shop and CHA Favorites post

Today is the very last day to shop. In between trips to CHA we've been working on orders.

Just a note: we will be here until the end of February to ensure all orders are shipped and received, all refunds and adjustments are made etc.

Now, on to the fun stuff. Just because I don't have the store this year doesn't mean I can't still go to CHA and see everything. This show is local to me so I can't miss it!

Over the last 5 years I've developed special relationships with some of the vendors and I wanted to say goodbye. I was one of the first stores to carry products from companies like Lily Bee and Echo Park.

So, this blog post is dedicated to the 'if I was going to buy for the store....' CHA picks. I will not totally abandon the industry when the store is closed either. I have plans to put kits and classes together so keep an eye out for that. A lot of the shopping this week is for those future kits. More information to come. (Note: I am not opening a kit club, just occasional kits for sale.)

Some ribbon fun from May Arts.

My new addiction - burlap twine! I will be selling this in my new Etsy shop so if you love all things twine, keep an eye out for an announcement.

The chevron ribbon. I own several yards of it in my personal stash but this is another item that will make its way into kits and the Etsy shop.

American Crafts
We tested out the DIY Thickers. I love the concept but I'll be honest, not all mediums work with these. Micro beads for one. But glitter and flock? Yes please!

And for anyone who does NOT want a pink cutting mat, American Crafts offers a fun robins egg blue mat. You will soon see this in my craft area. I've been searching for a mat and I hesitate every time because my options are pink, black or green. My room is all blue so this mat will match perfectly!

Veneer cameras? Yes! They even have an Instax shape.

Mini travel veneer. These are teeny tiny but the PERECT accent to pages. Planes, bikes and cars!

The states. I don't know why but this set is a must have. I actually have a project in mind for this.

Its all about the potty people. I love this idea and you can never have too many of this shape.

I am sitting here recovering from the last 2 weeks. Between the holidays, the store and moving, I've been extremely busy.

Things are slowly getting back to normal now and 2011 winding down. I'm ready for 2012 and everything it brings. I'm ready for new challenges.

For now, I'm still focused on the store and closing it down. December 31st is here and we still have inventory, although not a lot. I have extended the date until January 31st for the store closure.

That means you still have time to shop. Nothing will officially close until products are all shipped out and orders are completely filled. Yes, we are still waiting on October Afternoon. I should have known when I added that last line in that this would happen. We are getting the order but with the holidays, nothing was shipping. This is the last line we need to get in and once its here, everyone will be notified.

As I start closing down the warehouse portion, I'm finding boxes of old product and its been added back to the store. Keep your eye on the 50% and 75% off sections as thats where the older product will go.

snow much to love!

I have to say, this Pink Paislee Snow Day line is super versatile. It could make a super cute Christmas line for girls - and obviously it's great for snow photos. It's also great for kids as well as adults - it's cute but not too juvenile. LOVE that!

Anyway. I wanted to step out of my box a little bit and do something different on a page. Nothing wild and crazy -- nothing with tilting photos, fussy cutting or layering -- but just something different. Enter, the snowflakes.

Yes, technically the *are* layered. They are also misted with Studio Calico's Mister Huey Shine (LOVE this stuff. Seriously, what are you waiting for?!) Then, they are hand stitched to the page. (All of my stitching is hand stitching. I don't own a sewing machine and I wouldn't know what to do with one if I did!!!)

So, see -- it's still super simple -- not way outside of my norm, but still cute and different. Makes me happy! Oh, and guess what? Here's a Friday sketch to go along with this layout!

Stash Faves: Final Edition

I'm going to miss this post. I know I enjoyed going through the store and finding lines or product that I loved. I think this might become a feature I continue on my personal blog later on. With CHA coming up I know there are going to be a lot of fun things I'll have my eye on. (Yes, I will be going to CHA in January and yes I will be updating as always.)

Upcycling a Maya Road tin box with Lily Bee goodies!

Hello there! It's Yvonne! :) I love to upcycle sturdy boxes, make them pretty so that I can either store things in them or give them away.

This was a Maya Road tin box that used to store chipboard....given a new lease of life with some Lily Bee papers. I even made a little tri-fold album that fits the box. All I need to do is add photos and journaling and it becomes a little "story book" in a box! :)

USPS and Product updates

We wanted to give everyone a heads up. This time of the year presents a heavy load on the Postal Service with the holidays and shipping increasing.

They have also made some changes to their services. We have already seen these changes and the turnaround times for orders increasing.

Once we ship your package, its in the hands of the postal service. If it takes a few extra days to get to you, that is something we cannot help. We ship Priority Mail exclusively for US customers. International customers can expect your orders to arrive USPS First Class. This option takes a little longer. Please allow extra time for those packages to arrive.

Now for the product updates. Due to an issue in the shipping department at KI Memories, our order for their lines was not cancelled. We had ordered all of their CHA Summer lines but found out in Late October that they were most likely NOT shipping die to production errors. They could not guarantee that they would arrive in time.

So our orders were cancelled for the following lines:

Well, a box arrived today with product in it from the Hot Date line. Since we did not expect to receive this, we never added it to the shop. Since we DID get it, its now in the NEW section. This is an extremely FUN line and we think you'll enjoy it.

mini albums are SNOW much fun!

I know in this season, you often need a quick gift. Often it's for that difficult person to buy for (Mother in Law, Grandma, co-worker) or as a last minute gift. I have a simple, yet adorable solution.

An accordion mini album! I know it's not a new concept -- BUT, it's inexpensive and can be perfect for that hard to buy for person. It can sit on a desk or a table, OR can be carried in a purse as a brag book.

I used the Pink Paislee Snow days patterned papers as a base with the ephemera, 3D stickers and wood shapes as accents. Add a little ribbon and some wood shop alphas to the cover and you've got a cute mini album that required no extras. (Think! No mini album to buy, just patterned paper, adhesive and your trimmer!)

Now, mine is not a gift album. It's to remember the December that my area in Southern California got SNOW that stuck over-night! But, I have plans for more that I don't keep!

Mini Corkboard Tutorial

Hello there! Shellye here with a super fast, cute and easy mini corkboard...great for gift-giving and can be modified to fit any decor.

You will need:

8x8 framed canvas board

6x6 sheet of 1/8" corkboard

2 cup hooks

ribbon

baker's twine

patterned papers and embellishments

(I used FINALLY FALL papers, owl and sticker by Bella Blvd and Patches by Amy Tangerine)

quick dry tacky glue or glue gun

1- Cut desired papers to 7.75" x 7.75" and 7"x7"; machine stitch if desired

2- Attach cork board to center of patterned paper with glue; add brads to edges if desired

3- wrap edge of cork board in baker's twine (I went around twice...see below)

4- add cup hooks to the top and thread ribbon through; tie into bow. You may use eye hooks instead.

5- Embellish as desired.

6. Finally, glue patterned paper to the front of the canvas with quick dry glue.

This was way too much fun! I'm going to hang it above my craft desk and post my reminders on it :) If giving as a gift, don't forget to include some cute push-pins.

After an exhausting 10 days I think we're back to normal around here. There was a bit of the stomach flu going around right before Thanksgiving that definitely took its toll on this house.

I've been busy this week filling orders - lots of orders!

We received in the October Afternoon Farmhouse line on Friday and the pre-orders have been shipped. Holiday Style will be here in the next few days.

Hello there! Let me share with you what I love to do with my scraps. I always love to challenge myself to use whatever is left in my stash especially the tiny & odd pieces. Scraps are like pieces of puzzle, all you need is to piece them together & create a layout! I have too many scraps lying in my stash box and it's a great way to use them all this way.

Here's a sample I created using the pretty Lily Bee Design called Head Over Heels...

Amy Tangerine's line is like a love song

Yes, Amy T's new line from American Crafts is like a love song to me. The reason I tell you this? Because my youngest son is obsessed with the song "Love Song" by Selena Gomez. He's particularly fond of the line "I love you like a love song, baby" in the song. He totally says it MINIMUM of 10 times a day. So...I wanted to document this phase in our lives, as funny as it is. (The fact that he was wearing quirky cowboy boots with shorts didn't hurt!)

The Amy Tangerine line was perfect to document this story. It's fun, upbeat and can even be a little quirky! I used the adhesive fabric, the fun patterned paper and lots of little bits to create a fun page.

Now, I wanted to share the page with you. However, it got picked up for publication the other day at Scrapbook Trends. SO, look for it there in April 2012. In the mean time, however, Alyssa even created a sketch to go with my layout, I hope it inspires you!

Helloooo! Happy Thanksgiving, to all our USA shoppers!

When I received my bundle of Glitz goodies from yourscrapbookstash.com I knew there could be some special projects made from these items. There are so many unique ways to use the whatnots -- I decided the first would be to make a simple, yet beautiful card.

I knew in this season there would be many reasons to send a personal note card. So, I used a rose whatnot along with some lovely Glitz patterned paper from Beautiful Dreamer and a stamp from Maya Road (Cameo!) for this one.

A simple and beautiful way to send a greeting! Get everything you need in the store today!

My beloved Grandma and a tip

In October, my beloved Grandma passed away. I was immediately drawn to my computer to find a photo of her to scrap. The pull was strong and I gave in to create this page. There was only pure emotion in the words, placement and colors.

The pastels from the Glitz Beautiful Dreamer papers and whatnots reminded me so much of my Grandma who loved pale shades of color. The simple beauty was perfect for a page about her.

Looking back on this page, I'm so happy I created it in those initial moments after her passing. I can feel all the emotion and all of the happy memories I have. This was a very new way for me to scrap my photos and one I would do again. I highly encourage you to scrap outside of the box. Scrap something that is very dear to your heart or difficult and treasure the page.

We were busy last night marking down a large section of the store.

We wanted to give you an update on shipping. All US Orders are still shipped out Priority Mail. The minimum for Free Shipping has gone up to $40. Your order total must be $40 for the system to calculate the free shipping.

International orders are now shipped USPS First Class. There is NO tracking information for these orders. They can also take up to 30 days to arrive at their destination. Currently, I'm seeing delivery times of 14-16 days from ship date. Please give the package at least 30 days before emailing us. The USPS will not take inquiries before 30 days has passed.

I love to play with mists. I don't think I go crazy or get too messy, but I love using them! So, when I started planning this page in my head, I knew I had to mix my Glitz and Maya Road goodies with my new Studio Calico mists (also from yourscrapbookstash!) and mask.

The Dance in Sunshine papers were perfect for the look I was going for, as were the autumn mini pieces from Maya Road. After I misted with Custard around the ampersand mask I went to work assembling the page. Then, I misted the chipboard pieces with custard, dewey and overdue. Once those were dry -- CALICO SHINE. I need about 10 more bottles of this stuff because it's amazing.

All in all, a lot of fun playing with mists and a page I am happy with!

beginning of an adventure

I would say flying 2,000 miles away from home to look for a new house DEFINITELY marks the beginning of an adventure!

In late August/early September my husband, sons and I embarked on our journey to find a new home. I brought my big camera but also my instax to document the journey and I am so glad that I did. We came home with some fun and unique images preserving our moments.

Using lots of Glitz goodies, plus a little Maya Road, Hambly and Studio Calico - I was able to create this fun page to remember our trip!

Hi! I have a secret to tell you. Before my kit came, I had no idea what I was going to do with Authentique anything! I thought it was all too girly, too fancy and too not me. You know what? I was totally wrong. The Authentique stuff is FANTASTIC, even for boy mamas that like bright colors and neutral patterns!

First, the papers are a wonderful weight and have a beautiful texture. The letter stickers are the perfect size. And the diecuts? Not only are they perfect, but they don't fall right off the sheet -- so you don't lose them all over the place!

Those aren't the only things I liked about Authentique, I could go on all day. However, I will spare you and show you my very favorite thing.

The Uncommon sheet of Original paper.

I love the doilies. LOVE them. And, the notebook/ledger background? Genius! I need at least 3 more sheets of this paper!

I took the foundations paper for Uncommon for the background, then cut out a couple of the doilies from the Original sheet of paper. Then, I built my photos and other elements around those doilies!

I hope you'll check out the Authentique stuff in the store if you haven't, and then post your results in the gallery! I know I would love to see what you create!!

Journaling Card Tips

Journaling cards are really fun to use on layout / card or even on altered projects!

Whenever I see journaling cards, I enjoy cutting the images out of them and this time round I also arranged the pieces to make them part of the background.

You can also use journaling cards to embellish a card.

Hi, Bente here! This time I will show you a couple of layouts I made using the "Baby Steps" line from "Simple Stories." As I don't have any babies at home any more I used the papers in a different way, just like any old general papers with soft patterns. The colours are very sweet and likeable and for those who do have babies or toddlers at home they can be used for both boys and girls.

I loved the darker paper with dots on them together with the lighter ones.

For my first layout I cut out a frame and wrinkled it, then fastened it to my page using my sewing machine. I grounded my photos with a circle of black cardstock . As a base for my title I used a couple of the journaling cards.

There are so many nice bits to cut out here. You can do fussy cutting, or just cut out the different squares and use them as page elements.

I know banners are ooold by now, but I can't help myself; I still love 'em....

I cut out triangles from the pp's and stitched them together. I recommend you use a thinner thread/twine than I did though...lol! I had a few of my flags tear.

I had these sweet photos of my youngest DD on my scrap desk and thought they would go well with this collection. I chose a couple of sheets of pp and a matching sheet of cardstock.

I placed a photo in each circle and added a flower vine with a suitable fall feeling to it.

I cut a balloon image from one of the elements sheets and added a balloon sticker as well.

The small green letter stickers are from the same sheet as the balloon. So great to have all the matching letters and some sayings on the same easy-to-grab sheet!

You can see all the papers and stickers etc a couple of posts down where Yvonne picks here Stash Faves.

I needed some more dimensional embellishments and reached for my "Vintage Vogue" goodies.

With my green/black theme I think they work well on this.

I used the rosettes, the spool buttons and the ephemera.

The black lace is from the "Vintage Vogue" trim card, too.

I hope you liked my take on the "Simple Stories".

We have a couple of questions that keep popping up in emails and blog posts.

Pre-Order - YES, you can still order them. We do plan on getting these lines in. We had hoped to have them in before we made the announcement but again, we ran into shipping issues. Anything listed in the shop WILL come in and orders will be fulfilled.

This is not an end for us. This is a new beginning. When one door closes......

Someone asked if the business is still for sale. Technically yes. It is for sale. Someone could buy it and continue running it. Everything is very easy to take over and I would happily make sure the transition went as smoothly as possible.

No easy way

There really is no easy way to say this...

After almost 5 years of selling the best scrapbook supplies, we are closing our doors.

Typically, these announcements begin with 'I'm sad to announce...' or 'I wish I had happy news to report....' but not this announcement.

The past 5 years have been fantastic to say the least but with a changing atmosphere in the crafting world and some personal changes - we have decided to close the store. I am happy about this change since we are going out on top.

We are not struggling financially. In fact, its quite the opposite.

Sadly, there are some important factors that led me to this decision. Its been in the back of my mind since earlier this year but I decided to try and make it on my own. What do I mean by this?

First, the business has grown over the past 18-24 months. Its grown so much that I can't handle it on my own. I have been able to hand off some important duties to Alyssa McGrew who has handled everything with ease. She is on the other side of the US though and sometimes I need a partner who is right beside me.

There have been a few assistants and order packers but none of them have lasted. No one is as committed to this as I am. I recently decided, after the departure of my last packer, to go it alone. Of course, I had help (a lot of help) from my fantastic husband. He knows more about this industry than any other man out there. While working a full time job and helping me raise a wild 4 year old, we've been running this business together. While business is great, its not enough for him to leave the safety of a 'real' job. This leaves me wearing all of the hats a business owner can possibly wear.

It means that there is always a part of my life that suffers. If I take a day off to rest or spend with my family, the business suffers. If I take time away from family to work on orders, the blog, product etc - then my family suffers. Up until the last 6 months, I've been able to balance everything.

With a 4 year old demanding more of my time and energy, getting into sports, school activities etc - this leaves less time to focus on the business. I spent more time with him this summer than ever before and I loved it! I realized the business was keeping me from the best part of my life. I'm trying to create memories to scrapbook but I barely have time to make the memories let alone scrap them.

My husband and I took some time out last month to sit down and talk about it. We weighed the options and then listed the business for sale. I have slowly adjusted to life as it will be.

As of today, November 1st, we will begin shutting down the store. There will be no more new product in stock. No more pre-orders. We will handle the current pre-orders as we expected to have the product in before making this announcement. See below for more information. The store will officially close and no more orders will be accepted as of December 31st. Anything not purchased at that point will be donated.

What does this mean?

It means that we would love to keep this going but its virtually impossible. I never intended to become the biggest store out there. I wanted to maintain the small store feel. I never wanted to overcharge or ruin a shopping experience with shipping fees. I was a shopper before I opened and I based my little store on how I liked to shop. I know we have many satisfied customers and we will miss every one of you. The growth was expected and at the right time, I added employees to help with the growth. Unfortunately, they were not dedicated enough. This is not an easy job - I never expected it to be.

So, here are the basics.

As stated above, all current pre-orders WILL ship. We will handle all orders for the new lines as we get the lines in. I had expected to have everything in by now but there were a few product issues that held up orders. Product availability has been a harsh reality for us this time around.

We will keep everyone updated here on the blog and on Facebook when lines come in.

We will not be doing any special orders or re-orders at this time. My goal is to sell off as much of the product - of course. We have a discount schedule in mind and will stick to it until everything is sold off.

Shipping. We are keeping the minimum shipping for Free shipping but the minimum will go up slightly. Flat rate shipping for all orders less than the minimum will remain. International shipping fees will change. You will be able to view the new fees on the shipping table.

Coupons - There will be no coupon codes from this point on. This includes the Birthday Club and any coupon codes we have. ALL Stash Cash codes are valid until 12/31/11. At that time, all balances will revert to $0.00. We will not be issuing any Stash Cash from this point on.

Order Fulfillment - as stated above, there have been some personal changes. We typically fill orders within 3-4 days (unless we have a big sale). We will try as hard as we can to stick to this timeframe but orders may take longer to go out. If you have a rush order, please let us know. We will do our best to make sure the order gets to you as quickly as possible.

Returns/Exchanges - in almost 5 years I think I've handled 2 returns. At this point, all sales are final. Just had to put that in writing.

Contests/Challenges - we still have a box full of giveaway prizes so expect to see some contests over the next month. We currently have two running now. Feel free to join in and win some free product.

Everything else will run as usual through November. The Stash Girls will still work with a kit this month and will continue to post inspiration on the blog. Beginning December 1st, the only updates you'll see here will be product updates.

While I am sad to make the announcement, I am also happy. I have loved every minute (okay almost every minute) of running this store and I wish I could keep it going. But like I said - something always suffers. An email isn't responded to fast enough. An order doesn't get out when it should. I put the time frames in place to help give me a window to respond but if emails aren't answered within hours, we get a second email or even a phone call. I understand that every one of you is important and we wouldn't be where we are today without you but I can't keep up the pace I have been.

I know I'll be asked what led me to this decision. Here are some of the major points:

1. My son. He means the world to me but he's high maintenance. He needs the personal attention and since my husband works long and odd hours - that attention falls to me.

2. Product Availability - there have been increasing issues with product availability. I used to be able to order a line and then reorder anything I ran out of. Not now. I'm lucky to get my original order from the manufacturer. They run out of an item and don't reorder. Product is so exclusive. Larger stores get priority.

3. Product Issues - We've seen more and more product not ship due to production issues. Either the item couldn't be produced on time or it arrived in a state that was not suitable for sale. This usually happens with the popular items - such as the Mini Smash.

4. Employees - as the business stands at the moment, we need employees to run this. Seeing that they are in short supply these days, things can't run smoothly here. Same as managing personal vs business life. If I spend too much time filling orders, emails don't get answered. Something suffers.

I am in no way complaining. Please do not take this as one big complaint. There is frustration on my part but only because my store can't be what it needs to be with some of the issues I face. When a manufacturer tells me my entire order is shipping only for it to arrive partially filled - that upsets the delicate balance of this once well oiled machine.

I have cried over this decision. I have had a love/hate relationship with it lately. In the end, this was the best decision for everyone.

Starting today, 11/1/11, you will find items marked down in the shop. There are lines that are very low in stock. I do not know what kind of order volume we will encounter. We will keep inventory as updated as possible. We will continue to mark product down until it is gone. My hope is to sell every last bit but whatever is left over on 12/31/11 will be donated. As stated, our hours of operation will not be what they currently are. I will not be putting in anymore 18 hour days. :)

And because we LOVE a challenge, we will be out of the office for a personal reason from 11/4 - 11/11. We will return on 11/12 and pick up where we left off.

Crochet Trim Flowers

Good day, Stashers! Shellye here with a very easy way to create some simple flowers using crochet trim.

I have used the VINTAGE VOGUE trims by Collage Press/Pink Paislee in making these. In this pack there are three different colors of trim and each are 1 yard each.

First, cut a 12" strip of trim.

Thread an embroidery needle with a thick floss, crochet thread or baker's twine (you won't see it, so color doesn't matter much).

I simply followed the natural loop of the trim to guide my needle and thread through.

Once you've threaded the entire length of the trim, gently pull the thread until a desired scallop is formed.

Tuck the top thread back through to the back of the scallop and then tie off and cut excess thread.

Here is a sample of the final flower. I also dabbed just a little no-fray to the ends. You may add large brads, rhinestones, pearls or any round accent to complete the center.

Hi this is Bente, remember me from the Spring...?

I used to love the kits that Erica sent me as a member of her DT. You can imagine was thrilled to get the opportunity to be a guest here this month!

Erica sent me papers and embellishments from one of my absolute favourite manufacturers.

Those of you who know me may have guessed that I am talking about Pink Paislee.They just keep on making me happy with each new collection, and very rarely disappoint.

I received the "Vintage Vogue" collection that Collage Press made for Pink Paislee.

The colours are divine

A match made in heaven if you ask me.

The papers have colours that could have come right out of a fifties movie. And the embellishments are adorable.

I received spool buttons, rosettes, chipboards, beautiful buttons, ephemera, and a lovely wooden alphabet thet can be misted or painted.

On the first layout I misted the wooden letters as I was lucky enough to have a suitable colour.

I shaped the paper with the cute letter pattern and added buttons around the edge. The small banners at one side were made by cutting banners from the ephemera in two. For my title I also used some twine to form the word "good".

I was thinking afterwards that I should have made the word a bit bigger as making it legible was quite tricky .

The sweet boy is my little nephew who insists on getting himself into trouble.....LOL!

The second layout was made cutting a frame from the same piece of letter patterned paper.

I matted my photos on the darker paper and added a space for my title. This time I used acrylic paint for my wooden letters.

You can see how I used the spool buttons and the rosettes on this too, in my close ups.

Once again thank you so much Erica, and Alyssa,for having me. I will be back in a short while with some more projects showcasing more beautiful product from the store.

Looking at all the great new lines that are arriving every day I think I "need" to do some shopping , too...LOL

Just a few announcements to make today...

ALL Studio Calico orders have been shipped. Please allow a few extra days for the packages to ship. We overloaded the post office and its taking them longer to process the volume of orders. Remember, we had two large pre-orders come in AND regular orders to get out.

We finally shipped all International pre-orders on Friday. We are waiting on the report with tracking numbers. Anyone who has emailed us, we will get back to you with those as soon as we have our report.

Some tips on using mists to add interest to your projects.

Hi there! It's Yvonne sharing some tips on using mists to add interest to your projects! :)

In this layout, I masked the area and misted. This created a little "frame" .

A little paper piercing along the edges makes the "frame more prominant.

In this layout, I used a few coordinating shades of mists to create a fun background!

I added a few buttons for added interest and dimension. To get the splotches, just open the cap and drip the mist.

Here's another example of a layout I did that incorporated misting and masking.

It's a subtle way to add texture to a piece without bulk! Don't forget to share your misted projects in our gallery! :)

My newest favorite from CHA Summer '11 so far? That's right -- the Amy Tangerine goodies from American Crafts. Hands down this stuff fits my style perfectly -- it's simple yet playful with great colors!

Once I got my September kit, I knew I had the PERFECT papers for some photos that I love...photos I hadn't scrapped yet because the perfect thing had not come along yet. Enter American Crafts, Amy Tangerine and your scrapbook stash!

What do I have going on here? A better question would be what don't I have going on here?! This layout has it all. Gorgeous patterned papers, my most favorite thickers EVER and self adhesive fabric paper. (I was a little intimidated by the fabric paper -- like what was I going to do with it? I managed to find a lot of things to do with it -- and I'm not a sewer, at all!)

This is the first time I'm using Simple Stories and I love how quick pages can be....with all the journal blocks....

And the fun stickers to personalize them...

Here's my super quick two-pager featuring my nephews. :)

The stickers really help to get the pages done quickly.

And there are som many fun elements one can cut out too! :)

I also made a mini album for a friends's birthday. I covered some cardboard with the patterned paper and decorated with the coordinating stickers and some buttons.

Inked up some cardstock so that she can add some photos to commemorate her birthday.

Hi everyone! Alyssa here, and I just wanted to show you a few quick and easy cards I made using Cosmo Cricket's Dear Mr. Claus line. This line is SO easy to use for cards. They even designed a page of sentiments ready to cut apart and use.

Here are my cards:

For each card, I dry-brushed white acrylic paint around the edges for a snow effect, then added in the hand-cut elements from the paper. Easy as pie!

Sneaking in on a Wednesday

We've got boxes stacked up to the ceiling here in the warehouse.

On Friday, our Studio Calico and October Afternoon orders arrived. It took us a while to get it all laid out so that we could fill orders as quickly as possible. I had to call in a little help too.

Having the extra day on Monday to package orders up definitely helped. We managed to stay on top of current orders AND fill most of the pre-orders for both lines.

We are shipping them out this week so please be patient as we work with USPS to get them picked up and processed. The last time we loaded them up like this it took them some time to sort and process at the local plant.

The good news is, we're close to finishing! Yay!

And more good news? The new Pink Paislee Snow Day is HERE! This is an adorable winter line with some of the cutest embellishments.

a fun and easy mini album!

Once, I had seen a fun little mini album on Elizabeth Kartchner's blog. I filed it away in my brain for future reference, knowing I would someday want to make one with some adhesive fabric sheets. (Either hers, or now, Amy Tangerine's!)

Well, the time came and with a 4x12 piece of adhesive fabric from Amy Tangerine's new line, a few sheets of patterned paper and a couple of other things (little ribbon and a couple of die cuts) I whipped up a cute and simple mini album!

I love mine, it's full of photos of houses we looked at on our recent house hunting trip. Some of the good, some faves and a couple we weren't so fond of. Glad to have these memories documented in one cute little place!

Fun, right? I assure you it's easy to make, you can buy the necessary supplies at your scrapbook stash and would be a perfect gift if you need something quick! Make sure to upload yours in the gallery!

A fun and easy holiday decoration

Hello friends!

I knew when I got my hands on Echo Park's Apothecary Emporium I needed to make something fun, yet special! WHAT I would make didn't come to me for quite a few days, however. I toyed with the idea of a shadow box or 7 gypsies tray. It occurred to me to make a paper wreath. I finally settled on a mini banner.

What's a mini banner? In this case it's not a banner with a base of chipboard and it's really not big enough to hang on my mantle. (Due to the nature of the holiday and all of the letters used, it wouldn't look weird on my mantle, but that isn't the point!) I have a mirror in my entry way that I thought would really benefit from a little holiday cheer. Thus, the mini banner was born!

For this particular banner (Happy Halloween!) I cut 9 pieces of patterned paper (relying heavily on my favorite sheet, Spider webs!) in strips that were 1.75 inches by 3 inches long. I also punched out 6 circles with one of my circle punches.

The rest is as simple as can be! I used a border punch or cut the bottom of the paper. I also added a punched circle or sticker to the strip before adhering the letters to spell Happy Halloween. When they were all complete I scored the tops of the strips so I could glue them to the bakers twine!

Once the two strands were tied together they were ready to hang! Nothing new, nothing complicated just simple and fun -- not to mention FESTIVE in a matter of minutes!

Apothecary Emporium is definitely a fun, festive and spooky holiday perfect for pages or altered items! All of the fun elements are available in the your scrapbook stash store!

Today is a holiday here in the US but we're slaving away in the warehouse. We received 2 very large orders late last week and we're busy trying to fill the pre-orders we have for them. This long weekend was perfect timing!

What I see......

I usually only get a few minutes to look through the gallery each month. I mean, sit down and really look at it.

Alyssa is the DT Coordinator around here so she is in charge of the gallery and posting to the blog. She gets to see everything before I do.

I just got a chance to sit down and really look at the September Gallery for the Stash Girls.

Want to know what I saw? What caught my eye?

I tried to pick just ONE project from each person.

Alyssa: I always lover her fussy cutting but I really love what she did with the Phantom line from Pink Paislee.

Jennie: I'm seriously going to hire this girl to make me a banner for every holiday and season. She rocked this one!

Jessy: a double pager perfected. The design, the colors. Everything.

Kristin: She knew exactly how to showcase the Simple Stories papers. As perfect as they are in their simple form, they make some of the BEST layouts.

Shellye: This was a hard one. I really wanted to pick her mini album but this layout kept drawing me back in. I love it.

Yvonne: Another GREAT example of the Simple Stories lines used 'outside the box'. And who doesn't love a good list on a layout?

Double Page Sketch!

I went back to my Scrappin' roots this month and created a two page layout.
It's funny that for years I created only two page layouts, and now I'm lucky to create one two pager per year.

I think I forgot how fabulous two page layouts are, and how many more photos you can include on a two page spread. The sketch I created (albeit badly drawn), was perfect to showcase all my vacation photos of Spokane, Washington.

I used one of my current favorite lines 100 days of Summer by Simple Stories for a summery feel (how cute is that little bicycle sticker!).

Hello, Hello again!
Today I wanted to share a layout I made with the cute new line Apothecary Emporium from Echo Park.
This line is undoubtedly geared towards Halloween, so I thought I would challenge myself to create something non Halloweenish...and you know what?

It was easy peasy.

All the sheets of paper are double sided, and at least one, if not both sides of each sheet is totally versatile!

I would also like to add that the solid color patterned paper is FABULOUS in this line!
Each sheet is already distressed for you, and is perfect for that grungy feel -- but without the mess.

Uh, hello alpha letters.
I have used the Black & Cream alpha letters on four projects and counting...they are Spooktacular!!

I love me some orange damask with a twist..

and I couldn't leave out this totally rad, orange polka dot paper!

Hello friends! Do you ever find yourself needing a fun and easy card? Don't have time to machine stitch on a simple card for a neighbor? Then these are for you.

These cards were all made with Echo Park's Apothecary Emporium and were simple and easy to make. They can be easily and quickly embellished or altered, but provide a great base for whatever you need.

All 4 of these cards were created with simple Echo Park items. These first two could be used as invitations for a costume party and a simple spooky hello!

These second cards are more of the same. Simple, easy to whip out right before a party where you bring a gift for the hostess!

These cards would be easy to adapt for birthday cards or thank you cards -- sky is the limit when you make a simple card perfect for your occasion!

The black angel

Hello friends!

In my hometown, there is a landmark in a cemetery called the black angel. In my youth, we always went there to see her and spook ourselves and repeat the lore we had heard so many times before.

I'd never taken the boys before as they had seemed too young. On this particular trip, my Aunt asked if we could take the boys. I agreed, knowing they would love it!

Supplies for this layout? The gorgeous papers from the Uncommon line by Authentique Papers. Throw in a piece of chipboard from Maya Road, a Jenni Bowlin button, thickers and Cosmo Cricket labels and you've got a layout that will help us remember the boys first trip to visit the black angel!

What do you do with.....

all of those cards? The ones you created on World Card Making Day? Or any day?

If you're like me, you use your scraps. I hate having a pile, folder, drawer or scraps around. I'm a tosser. (Ducking as you all throw things at me!)

Or I should say I *was* a tosser. You can only imagine the supplies I have stashed after 11 years as a crafter and 5 years as a store owner. One of my crafty resolutions this year was use those scraps. If I knew I'd use them on another layout, mini book or project, I kept them. I have a small Cropper Hopper folder that I keep my scraps in.

If it was a one time use paper, I turned around and made a card right away. Why hold on to it? Why wait? I had all of the coordinating items out to make the layout, lets make a card too. Or two or three! Whatever I had the supplies for.

So now I have this shoebox full of cards. Ready to be sent out. Its getting kind of full and I'm embarrassed to say that I'm not very good about mailing them. Crafty resolution for 2012? Maybe.

So I packaged up 50 cards from that box and mailed them out to Operation Write Home.

I'd done this in the past but I always forget. Now I have a box sitting under my craft desk where I can just toss cards in as I make them. I keep them simple and follow their guidelines. Once I have a decent amount, I ship them off. I try to send about 50 at a time to make it worth my while. Included is a donations of $13.00 for the postage. Thats the cost of their Flat Rate boxes that they mail out with over 300 cards in them.

Want to help? They always need cards. See their 'desired card list' page. Make sure you follow all guidelines.

Oh and if you have kids, they have coloring pages the kids can complete and throw in the boxes. They also send cards to Any Hero, the ones who don't get a lot of mail and these make a great piece of mail for them.
